Описание: Winchester Cathedral is a very large Cathedral in the Hampshire city of Winchester. It has its roots back in the Saxon era, but the current building dates from the 11th century onwards. It is the longest medieval Cathedral in the world, with a total length of 170.1 meters. The nave is the longest Gothic nave in the world as well. Of the original Norman Cathedral, on the crypt, transepts and tower survive. The tower is a 12th century rebuild of the earlier 11th century crossing tower which collapsed - fun fact, the only major 11th century crossing tower to still survive in the UK is the tower of St Albans Cathedral in Hertfordshire, having been built around 1077. In 1937, a new ring of twelve bells was cast at the John Taylor and Co. foundry in Loughborough, with a tenor weighing 35-2-6cwt, ringing out the note of C. These are a very fine twelve indeed. In 1992, the twelve was augmented to the first ever ring of 14 in the world, with an additional 4# by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry. There are mixed views about the 14 but I personally like them as they are litterally unique. No other rings of 14 anywhere in the world! Ringing here features a touch of Grandsire Cinques, recorded in 2015.
