A Conversation with Kyle Spears
Inside the You Are Worthy Network, I had the privilege of sitting down with Kyle Spears for a meaningful conversation about trauma, identity, healing, and the journey toward rediscovering our worth. 💬
Kyle works in private practice as a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner, Certified Marriage and Family Therapist, and Life Coach in the state of Nebraska. Through his work, he helps individuals, couples, and families navigate trauma, PTSD, depression, and complex relational struggles.
One of the things that stood out in our conversation is how Kyle described the transformation he often sees in the people he works with — helping them move from feeling disoriented, deskilled, and unworthy to becoming connected, loved, and secure. 🔄❤️
Kyle also shared a very personal story about a moment in his life when he experienced intense stage fright during a play shortly after moving to Nebraska.
During the performance he completely froze on stage and had to be handed the script in order to finish. For him, it was a humiliating moment that brought deep feelings of shame.
For a long time he pushed that experience down and tried not to think about it. But eventually he realized that when painful moments are buried, they often continue to affect us in ways we do not immediately see.
Through time, reflection, and healing, that experience was reframed in a way that allowed him to move forward — and today he helps others walk through their own healing journeys. 🔥
We also talked about:
📚 His upcoming book with Michael Burns — “Bearing The Image of God”, scheduled for release in early 2027
🎓 His theological studies, including his current pursuit of a Master’s in Theology, with the goal of eventually pursuing a Doctorate in Theology
💡 His passion for counseling and coaching people through trauma and life challenges
🎙️ His broader ministry through his YouTube channel, podcast, Patreon community, and online resources
Kyle also brings a unique professional background, having previously:
⚖️ Worked as a substance abuse counselor helping people recover from addiction
🔒 Oversaw recovery programs for incarcerated individuals
🚔 Provided mental health education for law enforcement
🚨 Served as a lead therapist in a crisis response program, working alongside police officers on scene
👨👩👧 Worked with families and children as a therapeutic case manager and in-home intensive therapist
Outside of his professional work, Kyle and his wife Kristi, a Physician Assistant specializing in Cardiothoracic Surgery, are raising their two children together.
This conversation is a powerful reminder that even the moments in life that bring shame or embarrassment can eventually become part of the story that shapes our growth, healing, and purpose.
And it also reminds us of something we believe deeply inside this community:
You are worthy. 💙
