Patti Diaz is the co-founder and executive director of the non-profit H2O Trash Patrol, a dedicated group who removes marine debris from waterways, harbors, and lagoons via stand-up paddleboards, leaving little to no carbon footprint. Patti is a marine biologist, environmental conservationist and mother of three, which inspired her to start H20 Trash Patrol. She has taught environmental education at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, CA, and worked on an ocean geology research team at the University of California-Santa Barbara. Patti now speaks at events and schools, raising awareness of the challenges facing our oceans.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
