"Sir, I have been encouraged today and I am always encouraged. There's never been any questions or any doubts in anybody's heart and minds that the democracy in Pakistan would not deliver. It is the dictatorship that they had issues with not the democracy of Pakistan and I am sure with the help of the EU and with the help of the world we will be able to fight the war, half the war is the hearts and minds of the people and win this war together. Thank you Sir."

STORYLINE
Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari said on Wednesday that the country's war against the Taliban had only just started, adding that defeat for the Pakistani military was "not an option."
Zardari, in Brussels for a landmark summit with European Union chiefs, paid a brief visit to NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) headquarters in the city.
He said the war against the Taliban started when democracy returned to Pakistan.
"Democracy has given ownership and is fighting the war," he said.
"I can tell you my determination to fight is there, my army's determination to fight is there, my people's determination to fight is there, and we, and defeat is not an option for us."
Pakistan's army has said it was entering the final stages of a major operation against the Taliban in the northwestern Swat Valley and was now preparing for a major new offensive against the country's Taliban leader in an area considered to be the deepest stronghold of al-Qaida and other militants.
South Waziristan, in the lawless border region with Afghanistan, has been hit by air raids and military shelling in recent days, but military and civilian government officials have insisted it was not the formal start of the campaign.
The offensive targeting Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud is hotly anticipated because it would strike at the heart of the area where militants blamed for attacks both in Pakistan and on Western troops in Afghanistan have become entrenched.
The military action has been welcomed by the United States as a strong stand against militants after years of failed offensives and striking deals rather than confronting Taliban hard-liners directly.
"There's never been any questions or any doubts in anybody's heart and minds that the democracy in Pakistan would not deliver," Zardari said.
