Zhangjiadu Village(张家渡村) is located in Linhai City, Zhejiang Province(浙江省台州市临海市). It was formerly known as “Hubu.(湖埠)”
During the Song Dynasty, Jinshi scholar Zhang Rukai established a ferry crossing to solve the villagers’ difficulty in crossing the river, and the village was later renamed “Zhangjiadu.”
The village retains its traditional layout, with crisscrossing lanes and well-preserved architecture from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, including former residences of notable figures such as Xu Shaodi(许绍棣) and Zhang Jingtai(张敬泰).
Due to their age and the lack of proper restoration over the years, some old houses have gradually collapsed and are slowly disappearing with time.
