Nelliyampathy- Part 02
The Nelliyampathy range has, 3 distinctive landscapes –
No 1. the plantation part, includes, tea Plantations, coffee plantations, spice gardens and Orange farms
No 2. the rocks, and hill-tops, which are trekker’s delights, and
No 3. the dense forest regions, which has, some very rare varieties of flora and fauna.

Nelliyampathy beckons visitors with shola forests and grasslands in the Western Ghats, adjacent to the Parambikulam Wildlife sanctuary.
The pleasant weather at Nelliyampathy, adds to the charm of the hill station.
Once you reach Nelliyampathy, then you can see amazing tea estates all around, along with Western Ghat background.

Seethargundu view point or suicide point is a popular tourist spot in Nelliyampathy, and you can explore the stunning aerial view of Palakkad district from there .The viewpoint is located within the seethargund estate. You have to trek few minutes, to reach the view point, from the parking area.
According to Hindu Mythology, Lord Sri Ram & his wife Sita along with Laxman, were searching for a safe place to live, during their 14 year period of exile. They found this place, and were attracted by its serene natural beauty, the rich vegetation, and the little streams, running through the hills. They decided to choose this place, as their abode, and are believed to have spent over a year here. (It has mentioned in the Hindu Epic- Aranyakanda- Ramayana)
Kesavanpara:
Kesavanpara is an another amazing tourist spot in Nelliyampathy. A look from the Kesavanpara, may lead your eyes, over the far-stretching fields, and pastures of the Palakkad District. As you reach the peak, you will discover that, the clouds, literally envelop the whole place, giving you, the ethereal feeling of, walking on them. The vantage point is surrounded by hills, and the panoramic views offered here are, unmatched. You have to trek through a forst road to reach Kesavanpara, from the parking area.
Karappara Falls:
Karapara waterfalls is an another beautiful attraction in Nelliyampathy, to hold you spellbound. The paanoramic natural setting, and the greenery all around, will surely make you, forget yourself. As the water cascades down an immense height, you are held spellbound by the beauty of nature. The area is surrounded by Thorn and Rocks. The Malayalam word of Thorn is Kaara and Rock is Paara and hence the name Kaarapara. There is a hanging bridge, over the Karappara river.

Nelliyampathy is an ideal option for those, who want to spend their weekend or vacation, with family, or trekking to western ghats, and enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna. It is a must watch Paradise, when you are in Kerala- God's own country.
