Soft Palappam No yeast, No baking soda - Traditional and Authentic recipe

Ingredients:
Raw rice – 1 cup (I used sona masoori)
Urad dal – 1 tbsp
Grated coconut – 2 handful
Cooked rice – 1 tbsp
Powdered sugar – 2 tbsp (Optional)
Salt
Steps:
Wash rice and urad dal well and soak for 2 to 3 hours.
Grind rice and urad dal along with grated coconut and cooked rice to a smooth paste with little water.
Add enough water to make a smooth batter. The consistency should be that of the dosa batter.
Cover and keep the batter aside in a warm spot overnight or for 6-7 hours for fermentation.
Once the batter is fermented, add sugar and salt. Mix well.
Heat the appachatti or a pan.
Pour a ladle of batter and swirl the pan.
Cover and cook on high heat till the edge starts browning.
Then reduce the flame to medium and cook until it is cooked completely.
Transfer it to a plate and enjoy the soft palappam with potato stew (https://goo.gl/LuSYQQ) or fish molee (https://goo.gl/EaAcNz) or chicken stew (https://goo.gl/r1VorL) or egg roast (https://goo.gl/kt6sqS) or kadala curry (https://goo.gl/gahC3K) or with sweetened milk or coconut milk.
