Can Fish Walk on land? In this video I will be answering this question and many more as I will be going through 4 fish that walk on land and 1 fish that just walks. There are many different species of fish in the world that have developed different ways of breathing so that they can spend time out of water. Being a fish out of water comes with it's advantages and it's disadvantages as these fish have access to new prey items but can also be predated on by terrestrial predators.

For our first fish that can walk on land we will be travelling to the marine waters around Australia as we have the epaulette shark. The epaulette shark is a small species of shark that is able to walk on land and travel to rockpools at low tide.
For our next fish species that walks on land we will be staying in the indo-Pacific as we have the mudskippers. There are over 32 species of mudskipper that can be found over many different countries. These mudskippers can spend days on land and even hunt on land.
For our next fish that walks on land we will be travelling to the freshwaters of south east Asia as we have the walking catfish. The walking catfish is a master of survival and is extremely adaptable. This species has also become invasive in many countries around the world.
Our next fish that can walk are the gurnards. There are many different species of gurnard in the worlds oceans and although they do walk they walk underwater. The gurnards have fleshy appendages near their pectoral fins which they use the walk across the ocean floor.
For our final species we will be traveling to the Atlantic mangrove forests as we have the mangrove killifish. The mangrove killifish can spend a remarkable time out of water and they do this by breathing through their skin much like an amphibian does.
Thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed :)
