It's such an unusual name - Fortrose. There just has to be some history to it, surely!
We stayed at a private POP (Park over Property with the NZMCA) right on the edge of the water. We had fabulous views of where the might Mataura River meets the ocean.
The sunset, the sand, the surf........we had it all for our overnight stay at Fortrose.
