Welcome to the Pilgrim's Notebook.
Let me share with you some of my memories of Istanbul, Turkey. Let me also take you with me as I walk through the Center of Easter Orthodoxy, in Fanar, the seat of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople. I also had the luck to speak personally with the Leader of the Eastern Orthodox Church, His All Holiness Bartholomew I in his Cathedral, St. George in Fanar. Fanar is a district in Istanbul near the old City. Once upon a time there was a thriving small Greek community in this area, but because of the turn of events of history especially with the fall of the Ottoman Empire, many things happened that resulted in the exodus of the Greek Population. All these photos were taken by me in August 10, 2014 during my visit to Istanbul.
