(1 Sep 2018) The Orthodox Church has kicked off a three-day assembly in Istanbul, under the auspices of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Istanbul.
The "Synaxis" has brought together dozens of Metropolitans and Archbishops of the Ecumenical Patriarchate from across the globe Saturday, reuniting them after their last meeting three years ago.
They will be informed of current ecclesial affairs and "strengthen the sacred bonds among them and with the Mother Church," according to a statement posted on the Patriarchate's website.
