One of the most accomplished wrestlers in collegiate history, Burley was a two-time NCAA national champion and four-time finalist for Lehigh University with an astonishing 94-5-1 career record. He captured titles at 134 and 142 pounds and was a four-time EIWA champion, six-time Midlands finalist, and Outstanding Wrestler at the tournament.

Darryl’s excellence extended to the international stage, where he medaled at the renowned Tbilisi tournament and earned top finishes at the World Championship and Olympic Trials. He claimed the U.S. National Open title in 1985, solidifying his place among the elite in American wrestling.

His impact goes far beyond accolades. As a coach, clinician, and mentor, Darryl has spent decades shaping the next generation of wrestlers. Outside the sport, he developed programs supporting individuals with developmental and medical disabilities—demonstrating his deep commitment to service and leadership.

He holds three degrees, including a juris doctorate, and currently serves as an assistant coach at Cannon School in North Carolina.
