[About this song]
This song, subtitled "Song in Praise of Marshal Oyama", is about Field Marshal General of the IJA Iwao Oyama. In 1842, he was born in Satsuma (present-day western Kagoshima Prefecture). He first went to the battlefield during the Boshin War as an artillery captain for the new government. After that, he was dispatched to Europe, where he observed the Franco-Prussian War and researched weapons in Geneva. During the Russo-Japanese War, he served as Supreme Commander, and his exploits were honored alongside those of Heihachiro Togo of the IJN.
This song is also Meguru Ono's first hit.
