Are you planning to travel Switzerland and are curious about what is the best travel experiences in Switzerland and what to do in the Swiss Alps? My travel diary on what to do in Switzerland in Summer will provide some inspiration. Gimmelwald and the surrounding villages in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland are among the most beautiful villages in Switzerland and also some of the best places to visit in Switzerland.

Gimmelwald is a small mountain village above Lauterbrunnen valley with a population of less than 200 and it is truly one of the best places to visit in Switzerland. In this travel walking tour video I will talk a bit about my first impressions and provide some background on this beautiful village in the Jungfrau region of the Bernese Oberland. It's a beautiful car free village. The only means to get there is by cable car from Stechelberg in Lauterbrunnen valley or from Mürren which is a bit higher above Gimmelwald.There is a small road that connects the Gimmelwald with Mürren, passing beautiful lush green meadows where cows graze throughout the day.

Gimmelwald is also one of best places to stay in Switzerland. What makes Grindelwald such a special travel destination? It may be the lush green meadows, the neatly kept Swiss mountain chalets with pretty flower gardens, the friendly people and very quiet and relaxed atmosphere. It may also be the amazing alpine hikes and breathtaking views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the adjacent Jungfrau mountain peak.

Regarding accommodation, there are a some really nice bed and breakfast, hostels and chalets in Gimmelwald. They are all very low-key and are a perfect fir to the overall relaxed atmosphere.
