Note from the composer:
"This is Martha Graham's fandare to dance as an art... a celebration in honour of the trials and tribulations, the disciplines, denials, stringencies,glories and delights of a dancer's world... and of the world of the artist.
Since the nature of the work seems to me highly pianistic, I have not hesitated in extracting some of the dances for piano. They might be attractive to both the virtuoso and the advanced student. The orchestral score of the Ballet "Acrobats of God" was commissioned by and is dedicated to Martha Graham. The present piano version is dedicated to Alicia de Larrocha."
