Runway-side view of Cessna P210 Centurion landing at Peyresourde altiport @5200ft altitude
The pilot reports only full flaps configuration is used for altiport landings on Cessna 210. The runway 09 slope changes quickly from 4% to 15% upslope with a prior 75m clearway. The usual landing point is thus at the start of the 15% slope, making for a three-step landing flare with power on. Turn volume up to hear RPM change for a feel of power setting during the landing flare. Turn captions on for running comment.
Runway 470x20m , slope 9.5 degrees
Go-around is not available on short final, so landing requires precise technique. It is prohibited for non-UL aircraft unless French Mountain rating or Qualification de Site is held by pilot. Due to slope landing and take-off must be in opposite directions.
The site is run by Peyragudes Air Club http://www.peyragudes-air-club.fr/# in collaboration with the Peyragudes ski resort
Watch NOTAMS for frequent closing in winter season
The Cessna P210 Pressurized Centurion is a 200KTS, high-altitude, 4000lb, six-seat aircraft and normally uses longer runways.
