2. Various of displaced people walking; riding in horse-drawn carriages
3. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Iman al-Naqa, displaced Palestinian in Muwasi:
”My daughter, my husband, and I are elderly and sick. We have a tent only two meters wide. There's no space. We eat, drink, cook, and light a fire inside the tent. Everything is inside. We store water inside. There's no room to expand the tent. It's overcrowded. The tents are close together. This causes disease. As you can see, diseases are widespread. There are no cleaning supplies or anything. People are suffering from everything.”
4. Various of displaced family sitting in entrance of their tent
5. Various of children in tents with their families
6. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Iman Abu Ta'ima, displaced from eastern Khan Younis:
”Overcrowding. There's nothing to support a person in this life so they can survive. The situation is very difficult, in terms of water, expenses, drinking water, and overcrowding. There's no room. Now, the people of the north have been displaced here. Neither we nor they will be able to live together because of the overcrowding.”
7. Various of displaced women baking bread
8. Various of displaced woman hanging clothes between tents to dry
9. Displaced woman sitting in entrance of her tent, sea in background
10. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Shorouk Abu Eid, displaced from eastern Khan Younis:
”The situation is very, very difficult. Before the people from the north arrived, the situation was tragic. We came here four or five months ago. We lived a very difficult life: poverty, economic conditions, hunger, disgust, and skin diseases that have afflicted our children. Getting water alone is a tragedy.”

12. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Jamal Abu Rajila, displaced living in Muwasi:
”The situation now is very tragic in Al-Muwasi. The sea is on one side, and overcrowding is on the other. The tents are stacked on top of each other. The bathrooms are overflowing. We can't live because of the bathrooms, and the tents are very hot. The market is very crowded. Transportation is tiring. What if a million people were displaced from there? We don't know where we'll live. Will the tents be large enough for us to be stacked on top of each other? That's difficult.”
13. Various of thousands of tents of displaced people
STORYLINE:
Palestinians say overcrowding in displacement camps across southern Gaza has worsened since the Israeli army last week declared northern Gaza and Gaza City a combat zone and ordered residents to evacuate.
While a large number of people decided to stay in Gaza City despite the evacuation orders and threat of a new offensive, those who fled once again face difficulties finding a place in the small, overcrowded spaces that are not under Israeli military control in the Strip.
Families who fled the north have poured into Khan Younis and surrounding areas, cramming into tents and makeshift shelters alongside those already displaced.
“My daughter, my husband, and I are elderly and sick. We have a tent only two meters wide. There’s no space,” Iman al-Naqa said, describing the conditions inside her tent.
Iman Abu Ta’ima, a displaced woman from eastern Khan Younis, echoed the same concerns.
“The situation is very difficult, in terms of water, expenses, drinking water, and overcrowding. There’s no room,” Abu Ta’ima said.
