This is a beautiful katha that tells the story of Shri Krishna and His true devotee, Sant Namo Ji.
“Nama Ji Tharo Ghar Sanvrye Thahyo” is more than just a story about a house. It is a story about compassion, sensitivity, and pure devotion.
The Beginning of the Story
A long time ago, Sant Namo Ji lived in a small hut with his wife and children. When the rainy season was about to arrive, his wife expressed her concerns. She said:
“When the heavy rain comes, our weak hut won’t be able to withstand it. Water will seep inside, and our children will catch cold and fall ill. Please go to the forest and cut wood so we can build a stronger house.”
Sant Namo Ji heard his wife’s words and went to the forest to cut wood.
The Moment of Realization
As he struck his axe on a tree, a red, blood-like watery substance came out. At the same time, his own leg was accidentally cut, and blood started dripping from it.
In this split second, he felt immense pain and had a tremendous thought arise in his heart:
“If my cut causes me pain, then this tree must also feel pain.”
His heart was filled with compassion. He immediately tore a piece of cloth from his headgear and tied a bandage, first on his own injury and then on the injured tree.
He returned home without cutting down the tree and told his wife all that had happened. She understood how pure and sensitive his heart was.
Divine Blessing
Shri Krishna was impressed by the deep compassion of his devotee. He commanded the divine architect, Vishvakarma, to build a strong and beautiful house for Sant Namo Ji.
Vishvakarma carried out the divine order the same night.
The next morning, the villagers were amazed to see a magnificent house where the small hut of Namo Ji was situated. They asked him:
“Did you steal?”
“Are you a magician?”
“How did you build this in one night?”
Finally, a woman from the village asked sincerely, “Who built this house?”
Sant Namo Ji replied humbly that it was the grace of Shri Krishna.
She then said, “If you know Him, tell Him I will give gold, money, anything — ask Him to build the same house for me.”
Sant Namo Ji gently answered:
“Shri Krishna does not need gold, money, or fame. He only seeks a soft heart — a pure soul who feels the pain of others, even without being told, and who never even thinks of hurting any living being.
Spiritual Message
This katha teaches us that true bhakti is not about rituals or wealth. It is about compassion, sensitivity, and a pure heart.
God lives where there is kindness.
God blesses those who protect His creation.
And God builds homes in the hearts of those who feel the pain of others.
