Corporate film made by the Vereenigde Blikfabrieken (Association of Tin Manufacturers) and the Dordrecht-based Metaalwarenfabriek. In roughly 1900, the demand in the Netherlands for tin packaging began to increase, especially for decorated tin packaging. The tin industry in the Netherlands was therefore becoming more and more sophisticated: the industrial production of tinplate printing became the norm, whereas manual tinsmithing was fading away. We see two examples of the modern tin industry depicted. During the shoots for the Association of Tin Manufacturers, we see how the famous tins made by the Droste chocolate company were produced.

Bedrijfsfilm van de Vereenigde Blikfabrieken en Dordrechtse Metaalwarenfabriek. Rond 1900 neemt in Nederland de vraag naar blikverpakkingen toe, met name naar versierde blikverpakkingen. De blikindustrie in Nederland wordt dan ook steeds geavanceerder: het fabrieksmatig produceren van blikdruk voert de boventoon, het blikslagen gaat verloren. Twee voorbeelden van de moderne blikindustrie komen in beeld. Bij de opnamen van de Vereenigde Blikfabrieken zien we hoe het beroemde Drosteblik gemaakt wordt.
