Thousands of Jews took part in the annual Jerusalem March on
Wednesday (11/10) in an event highlighting Israel's claim to
Jerusalem as its capital. Some 3,000 police were deployed to
ensure security for the event, which dates back to the 1950s.
Marchers from dozens of countries were said to be taking part. The day's other festivities included a street carnival, dance troops and a flyover by the Israeli air force. Organisers said more than 80,000 people joined the street celebrations.
