Our day begins in Blenheim, where the pace is already gentle. Before the train ride, there are small, simple moments — walking along the park, birdsong drifting through the air, just being amidst nature. When the train arrives, it moves slowly into view, grounding us in the present before carrying us forward.

From Blenheim, we travel by train to Christchurch, then continue across the South Island on the iconic route from Christchurch to Greymouth. This scenic train ride across New Zealand unfolds gradually: wide plains give way to rolling hills, rivers trace their paths through valleys, and mountains rise in the distance. There’s comfort in watching the world pass by — not to arrive sooner, but simply to witness.

After the train journey, the day continues by road as we drive toward Franz Josef. The pace softens even further. The scenery shifts again, and movement becomes slower, more spacious. There’s no rush to document everything, no need to explain what’s happening. Just the gentle continuation of travel, moment by moment.
