The fifth annual Ted Rogers Centre Heart Failure Symposium was held virtually for the first time, Dec. 4-5, 2020 (all times Canada – Eastern Standard Time). This meeting, which blends clinical innovations with the latest scientific advances, has grown to become Canada’s largest conference on heart failure.

On Friday, December 4th, our research-focused symposium featured national and international experts who will explore novel work in precision medicine, genomics, regenerative medicine, immunology, as well as sensor and machine learning technologies

About the speaker:

Dr. Slava Epelman, MD, PhD

Dr. Slava Epelman is a Clinician-Scientist in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto and at the Division of Cardiology at Peter Munk Cardiac Centre. He is also the lead of the Cardiovascular Research Group at Toronto General Research Institute, University Health Network. He is the Loretta Rogers Chair in Immunobioengineering at the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research at University of Toronto. Dr. Epelman obtained his MD / PhD (in Immunology) from the University of Calgary and then did his medical residency / clinical fellowships at the Cleveland Clinic, Baylor College of Medicine and Washington University. He is a staff cardiologist in the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre at Toronto General Hospital. His scientific interests are focused on the role of macrophages in cardiac tissue injury and regeneration.
