The annual migration begins! As our science season begins in Antarctica, the trusty British Antarctic Survey aircraft begin their long journey across the world.
The BAS red Dash 7 and Twin Otter aircraft set off from Canada, where they are maintained and work with science partners during the Northern hemisphere summer. They fly all the way down North and South America and reach Punta Arenas on the tip of Chile in around 10 days, before making the final hop over the Southern Ocean to Rothera Research Station!
