I just got this question today from one of my subscribers asking me...
"Hey Lee, i was talking with my gym teacher in class today, and i asked him why do they have not have a leg press machine. he told me that the leg press is bad for you knees! now i do leg press at home and i have never had pain in my knees nor have i ever heard of this before! and even top bodybuilders do leg press! so my question for you is it true? Please Get Back To Me, Thanks

This one is a pet peeve of mine...
I can't stand it when people make blanket statements saying "this exercise is bad, don't do it"
Just because an exercise is bad or causes pain for one person, don't automatically mean that it's bad and causes pain for everyone.
Some people love doing the leg press and find it very comfortable to perform with absolutely no knee pain what so ever. So for those people they should be allowed to do the leg press if they want to.
Imagine if the gym teacher dropped a dumbbell on his toe and then said... "Dumbbells are bad for the toes, we're going to get rid of all the dumbbells."
That would be absolutely stupid, but it makes just as much sense as saying that leg presses are bad for the knees, so we're not going to have a leg press.
The fact of the matter is that
Not Every Exercise Is Good For Every Body.
If you find that a certain exercise hurts, Don't Do It. Find another exercise alternative to do instead. But at the same time, just because a particular movement hurts you, doesn't mean that it hurts everyone else in the gym.
You need to listen to your body and do what works best for you!
