I am proud to have hosted the second annual debate on #LesbianVisibilityWeek in Parliament this week.
For the past five years we have set aside this week in April to celebrate#LVW25 and uplift lesbians everywhere, from all backgrounds and all walks of life, and we are a community that grows stronger each and every year for it.
This year the theme is celebrating Rainbow Families, focusing on LGBT+ women and non-binary people's families, recognizing the importance of all family structures.
I spoke about the importance of celebrating the significant contributions lesbians make in fostering solidarity and sisterhood within their communities - especially now, given the rising hate, homophobia, lesbophobia and transphobia faced by our LGBTQIA+ community.
Feminism has to be intersectional, recognising that all women, including trans women, deserve the same rights, safety and respect.
