Bajhang is a mountainous district in the Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal, often called the "City of Kings" due to its rich history of local royalty. As of the 2021 census, it has a population of 189,085.
Capital city Chainpur, situated at the confluence of the Seti River and Bauli Khola.
Elevation:Ranges dramatically from 900 meters to 7,035 meters (Mount Saipal)
cAcessibility: Accessible via the Jaya Prithvi Highway (Khopde-Bajhang Road). While it has an airport in Jayprithavi Municipality, flight services have historically been limited.
Mount Saipal (7,031m): The second-highest peak in the Far Western Himalayas, offering a less strenuous trekking route to its base camp compared to Mount Api.
Surma Sarovar Lake: A high-altitude glacial lake (4,333m) known as "Mini Kailash". It is a major pilgrimage site where the annual Birijaat Fair is held in late July or August.
Khaptad National Park: A renowned destination for eco-tourism and birdwatching, featuring the Khaptad Baba Ashram at 2,923m.
