We have been working on a new community songwriting project which aims to connect different generations in a small town or area.
The first village we visited was Trealaw, and we worked with a wonderful group of children in year 5 and 6 at Alaw Primary School and their teacher Mrs Watson.
They were visited by a number of older relatives who told the children all about the school and community going back to the 60s and 70s.
The children were fascinated (and occasionally shocked!) by their accounts, and the older generations enjoyed reminiscing also!
The song you hear is written by the children. They wrote all of the lyrics juxtaposing the different memories, and we helped them set it to music.
As a bonus they also added their own choreography! Well done all, a fun few weeks!
This project is funded by a Shared Prosperity Fund Grant from Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Via UK Government.
