Chiune "Sempo" Sugihara, 1900-1986. A Japanese consul in Lithuania who issued handwritten visas to thousands of Jewish refugees, against the express order of his government, and saved innocent lives during the Holocaust. His courageous efforts put his own family in danger and eventually cost him his career.

Be sure to check out the Chiune Sugihara monument in Little Tokyo located at a public space beside a local Starbucks across the street on East 2nd Street.

This video was made as part of the "Generation to Generation" project which will bring the histories, experiences, and intergenerational stories of the incarceration, resettlement, and redress to a youth audience.
