Buckwheat(Grechka) is a very popular grain in Russia. Buckwheat is very healthy – much healthier than rice, and it makes a very tasty side dish. There is really simple Buckwheat Recipe.
Buckwheat Kasha Recipe: Ingredients
1 cup buckwheat kasha
1 cup of water
1/2 tsp salt
Buckwheat Kasha Recipe: Instructions
Rinse the buckwheat in a colander under cold running water.
Soak the buckwheat in clean cold water 10-15 minutes then rinse with clean running water.
Put rinsed buckwheat in a pot. Add water.
Bring water to a boil over high heat and add salt.
Remove from the heat.
Cover and leave it for 10 minutes.
Fluff kasha with the fork to make the grains separate and fluffy.
Serve kasha with your favourite filling: butter and-or milk.
Grechka (buckwheat) is proof that the simplest dishes can be the most satisfying. Try it once, and it might just become your favourite!
