Today we headed out to Atlantis to compete in our local Club race. For the last few years, every December the club has organized these fun “races “ where all our club members can take part with the winner walking away with the floating trophy.
For this race, the Andy Arnesen trophy was up for grabs and to win it you needed to win this handicap race.
Atlantis is a 7.5km circuit which is pan flat and goes through the Industrial area. We do 7 loops with a total distance of just over 50km.
The race is a handicap race which gives every club member a fair chance of winning. There are 3 groups where every club member is seeded based on their strength. First group gets a 20 min head start, second group was given 5 minutes head start. The final group (Scratch) starts last and is tasked with trying to catch the other 2 groups.
