"Genau so sollte der Sommer sein!"
"That's exactly as summer should be!" this little sentence just popped up in my mind and stuck there for the rest of the weekend. and for the rest of my life. it has been exactly twenty years since and I guess I already wrote about that weekend but this time it fits better than anytime before, so here we go:
I'm talking about the Pfadi Folk Fest 2001 aka "MOVE". Pfadi Folk Fest is some kind of a festival for the older girl- and boyscouts and in 2001 I used to be pretty active helping out for "Froburg" & "Farnsburg" that just had fusionated to "Komodo" (while in 2013 the unit fusionated with "Löwenburg" - the later existing since 1997, "Löwenburg" once was "Maggenburg" & "Homburg" - and morphed into awesome "Phoenix" and in 2018/2019 even formed a mixed troop called "Kognoi") so I had good reasons to join in. and I still have fond memories of that weekend of our mixed little group of Pfadi Falkenstein Köniz kicking around the Hackysack while reciting the lyrics of the then-brand-new Samy DeLuxe-album or sticking bloody flowers into each others Doc Martens et al.
anyway. the Pfadi Folk Fest PFF is an event where you also can drink something else than our beloved Pfadithé and during the second night my mate Stöffi just came 'round the corner with tears of laughter in his eyes and some guys I have never seen before in the appendix: "MEET MY NEW FRIENDS! YOU'VE GOT TO HEAR THIS!" and so those blokes started to sing a boyscout-song where everyone gets injured and dies and the dudes couldn't understand why we didn't know about this song, as it was in our Bernese dialect (it's called bärndütsch!).
we then got taught this song is by Jacob Stickelberger, member of the famous Berner Troubadours. my family owns the two early compilations by the Berner Troubadours (the black and the blue one) from 1971 & 1975 but the "Pfadfinder"-song is on Stickelbergers first solo-album - "I La Mi Gah" (1980, CH-Records) and completly unknown to me.
there seems to exist another version, recorded in 1995 and released in 1996 on a later Troubadours-CD (also on Zytglogge) but I haven't got hold of that one yet, so maybe I'll add it later but maybe this is going to kill me and my channel anyway as some copyright-owners of the Troubadours legacy seem to be very strict. as far as I can remember the "I La Mi Gah"-version used to be on youtube but I can't find it anymore. but this version is performed with a full dixie-band and can't compete to the wonderful singers in that summer night in 2001 anyway.
all copyrights belong to the owners.
please hit me up if you want this upload to be removed. I am doing this because I love this music so much and those tunes don't seem to be available elsewhere atm.
