LNER A4 pacific steam locomotive No. 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' was in Carlisle on 13th August 2025 to haul 'The Edinburgh Summer Explorer' (1Z32) that ran from York to Edinburgh from Carlisle to the Scottish capital.
The tour ran by Saphos train had LSL traction, with Class 47 No. 47712 leading from York to Carlisle with Class 57 loco No. 57311 on the rear of the train with the A4 replacing the class 47 at Carlisle.
In this video we see 60007 arrive into the station from LSLs Upperby Depot just south of the station. The rail tour arrives soon afterward hauled by 47712 with 57311 on the rear of the train.
The A4 steam loco replaces 47712 and departed just a few minutes late on the start of its journey to Edinburgh Waverley.
