Zapopan 8K Walking Tour
Zapopan is a Mexican city located in the state of Jalisco, capital of the homonymous municipality. It is the second most populated city in the state and is part of the metropolitan area of ​​Guadalajara.
It comes from a Nahuatl pictogram represented by the zapotes fruit tree with a flag on its side.

The name Zapopan comes from the Nahuatl word tzapopantl, "place populated by zapotes."

Zapopan is the second most populated municipality in Jalisco and is the seventh most populated in Mexico.
During the solemn session held on December 8, 1991, in which the 450th anniversary of the repopulation of Villa Zapopan was celebrated, it was granted the title of city.
The tourist attractions offered by Zapopan are diverse; from important religious sites at a national level to first-class shopping centers. It also has different alternatives for ecological tourism such as El Diente, Bosque de La Primavera, among others. One of the most important religious celebrations at a national level takes place in the same municipal capital, the pilgrimage of the Virgin of Zapopan. On October 12, thousands of Catholic faithful come to witness the return of “La Generala” to her precinct, the Basilica of Zapopan.
The typical food is the same as in the other municipalities that make up the Metropolitan Zone but it is worth highlighting the preparation of dishes based on corn, which is the tender cob of corn. Zapopan is also known as the “Villa Exmaicera” due to the large amount of land planted with this agricultural product.
