Opposition parties in the City of Cape Town are calling for the immediate suspension of Mayoral Committee Members, JP Smith and Xanthea Limberg whose offices were raided by police last week in connection with an investigation into tender fraud in the City.
Smith is the Mayco member for Safety and Security as well as the deputy Federal Chairperson of the DA's national structure.
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis requested a briefing from SAPS following the raid.
He says SAPS could not provide any indication of whether substantive evidence of wrong doing existed.
Police say they are conducting probes into housing tender fraud in the construction sector within the Cape Town municipality.
