PM Young Leads Dry Run for PNM Candidates Ahead of Nomination Day

Описание: In the run-up to Nomination Day, election candidates took the opportunity to ensure that their papers were in keeping with the process laid out by the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC).

PNM candidate for Port of Spain North/St. Ann’s West, Prime Minister Stuart Young, was one of those who showed up at Belmont Secondary School on Tuesday.

He was backed by Port of Spain Mayor Chinua Alleyne and a throng of PNM supporters.

"The campaign team is out this morning supporting him as he goes through the dry run. So, this is one of the important days in the run-up to any election. Today, the candidate will be bringing all of his documents. They'll be scrutinised by the Returning Officer. The Returning Officer will advise on any corrections that might have to be made so that when Nomination Day comes for next week Friday, April 4th, we will be ready. We'll be ready. We'll be all in, and we'll be prepared to elect back into Parliament and to return as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the Honourable Stuart Richard Young, SC."

Prime Minister Young greeted his campaign team and explained the PNM’s strategy to reporters.

"We met with all 41 candidates last night. We told them exactly what had to be done this morning. They've also been informed before that, but we wanted to make sure. So, I expect today all 41 PNM candidates would have done the dry run. That's a good point to make because it shows that once again, the PNM party is not only representing in the 41 constituencies of Trinidad and Tobago because we respect Trinidad and Tobago, and we want to ensure that everybody in Trinidad and Tobago has the opportunity to vote for a PNM candidate."
