Описание: In an intriguing talk about the dangers that lurk in the cyberspace, he speaks on the various aspects of hacking right from its beginning to progression with examples of viruses and malwares that took the world by storms such as the US Elections' Hacking and Iranian Nuclear Enrichment Plant Hacking in 2009. 'Everyone's been hacked. The only question is whether you know it or not', was the crux of his talk as he described the background of people who’s been hit by cyber attacks and discussed various surveys regarding those. Next up was the prevention of these attacks and them becoming an issue of national importance, by mentioning the Ukraine Cyber Attacks and subsequent violence. He also talked about how these attacks occur and spread, loopholes in the banking system and the initiatives to counter this wide spreading problem. The talk ends with the audience left wondering if we’ll ever be fully equipped to combat any digital threat that comes along our way.


Professor Sandeep Shukla is currently the Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kanpur and Editor in Chief of ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing Systems. He is also a Poonam and Prabhu Goel Chair Professor and a Dr. Deep Singh and Daljeet Kaur Faculty Fellow. With a Ph.D. and Masters from University at Albany, SUNY, he is the recipient of ACM Distinguished Scientist and Humboldt Bessel Award among many others. Sandeep was elected an IEEE Fellow for his "contributions to applied probabilistic model checking for system design". While his research focuses cyber security, embedded systems, critical infrastructures and smart grid; mentoring of students, research supervision, as well as project management, is his passion.
