In this episode of Letting Go, our journey brings us to a historic and natural landmark—the Three Forks of the Missouri River, where we reflect on the route taken by Lewis and Clark during their legendary expedition. Standing at the headwaters of the Missouri offers a moment of reflection on exploration, discovery, and going beyond the comfortable.

From there, we head south toward Yellowstone National Park, making a return visit focused solely on the wildlife-rich Lamar Valley and Hayden Valley. This time, we skip the park’s iconic geysers and waterfalls in favor of observing Yellowstone’s wild inhabitants in their natural element.

During our exploration, we spot:

Bison herds roaming the plains

Black bears in the distance

Graceful pronghorn antelope and mule deer

A lurking coyote

Geese and ever-present ravens

As the sun dips below the horizon, we begin our journey toward South Dakota's Black Hills, setting the stage for the next leg of our road trip adventure.
