Rich Chocolate Layered Cake
Ingredients:
For the Cake (make twice for 4 layers)
3 eggs
1 ½ cups sugar (300 g)
¾ cup cocoa powder (100 g)
¾ cup oil (150 g)
1 cup milk (240 ml)
2 cups flour (280 g)
½ tsp baking soda
1 cup water (240 ml)
For the Ganache
600 g dark chocolate
700 g cream
40 g butter
For the Syrup
½ cup sugar
½ cup water
3 tbsp cocoa powder
Method:
1. Prepare the Ganache:
Place chopped chocolate and butter in a bowl.
Heat the cream until it boils, pour over the chocolate and butter.
Blend until smooth. Cover with cling wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
2. Bake the Cake:
Preheat oven to 165°C.
In a bowl, beat eggs and sugar. Add oil and mix.
Sift flour, cocoa, and baking soda into the mixture. Add milk and mix until combined.
Finally, add water and mix until smooth.
Pour into two 22 cm pans and bake for about 40 minutes. Repeat once to make 4 layers.
Cool completely, trim tops if needed for even layers.
3. Prepare the Syrup:
In a small pot, mix sugar, water, and cocoa. Bring to a boil, then cool and refrigerate.
4. Assemble the Cake:
Place one cake layer on a plate, brush generously with syrup, and spread ganache on top.
Repeat with all layers (4 cake layers, 3 ganache layers).
Use remaining ganache to coat the outside. Smooth or create textured patterns.
Refrigerate until set. Slice and enjoy!
