College student goes big with synthetic biology start-up: Gen Z in Shanghai

Описание: 23-year-old Su Rui is the co-founder of SynMetabio, a synthetic biology company that combines microbial fibers with other materials to substitute for leather. Su started the company during his senior year with his friend in Shanghai Tech University.
 
SynMetabio, now with 20 staff and an R&D center covering nearly 2,000 square meters, has become one of the major venture capital hotspots as its valuation reaches some 300 million yuan ($42.46mln).
