Interested in learning more about the reference denture technique and merging a scan of the patient's intraoral arch to the reference denture using exocad? This video is for you!
This video highlights using 2 case files: 1) a reference denture reline using the patient's existing denture, and 2) an intraoral scan of the patient's mouth with implants and scan bodies in place. The step-by-step video highlights using exocad software to align the intraoral edentulous scans to the reference denture scans.
The key to this technique is using an existing prosthesis that has a fairly accurate OVD/CR. If those are incorrect, modify the existing prosthesis such as increasing/reducing the OVD or using a bite registration record prior to scanning the reference denture scan.
This technique permits one to align an edentulous arch scan with LOCATOR abutments in place to a reference denture. By using the reference denture and merging the edentulous scan, you can now have an articulated edentulous scan!
