Can you stand on one foot and keep your balance without falling over? One element of aging well is improving your stability so that you can remain independent into your nineties and beyond.
While many people think that stability training means how long can you stand on one foot, it means so much more. Aging well doesn't require standing on one foot. It requires us to be able to do functional tasks... as a result, you need to train you body in AUTHENTIC human movement. Because I highly doubt that you stand on one foot for extended periods of time per day!!
Why is balance (or stability) important to age well? We NEED to maintain solid stability to reduce our risk of falls as we get older. No one wants to walk around grabbing hold of things to ensure that they don't fall over. I think you'll agree with me that this is NOT a sign of aging well.
In this video, Eileen shows you a move that can help you to test your balance. You can use this same move to train your body's stability in all 3 planes of motion (i.e. the 3 ranges of motion in which our bodies move when we do day-to-day activities). Those planes of motion are:
Saggital plane - bending forward and back (example: to pick things up)
Frontal plane - bending side-to-side (example: to grab things next to us)
Transverse plane - to rotate your body (example: turning around)
Yes, you CAN age well and you CAN maintain or even improve your stability as you get older. You just need to know the right things to do.

Allow me to show you how to train in AUTHENTIC human movement. You can restore function, prevent injury, and even eliminate long-standing pain when you know the right things to do.
