Описание: Physicians are often seen as aloof and distant from patients who are often dependent on them for both care and understanding. Stern's personal family journey through life ending issues led him to understand the need for both detachment and connection with his patients. Stern is a practicing neurosurgeon who learned about the central need for compassion in caring for others through the illness and death of his younger sister and later her husband. Redesigning healthcare has become a passion. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
