Описание: In his TEDx talk, *Pierfilippo Peruzzi* delves into the addictive nature of social media and its impact on our brain’s dopamine receptors. With Gen Z spending an average of 4.8 hours daily on social media, platforms exploit "sludge content" to maximize engagement, leading to habits like doomscrolling and a sharp decline in attention spans. Drawing from expert research, Pierfilippo explains how this constant dopamine stimulation rewires the brain, creating dependency and diminishing baseline dopamine levels, akin to other addictions. He advocates for self-awareness and mindful screen use as key steps to breaking free from this "dopamine trap" and reclaiming control over time and focus. My name is Pierfilippo Peruzzi and I am a tenth grader here at AOSR. I have lived in Rome my entire life and have been attending AOSR since the age of four. I would describe myself as a diligent, introspective, and open-minded person who tries his hardest to be the best version of himself every day. This is my first year doing TEDxAOSR and I am excited to be discussing the topic of the psychological effects of social media with the world. My talk will go in-depth on what actually happens in our brains when we are on social media and the long-term effects they can have on our brain’s functions. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
