Have you ever felt like a stranger in the world, someone who feels too much, who perceives the beauty and the misery of life at the same time? If so, you may have experienced the sensation of being an “idiot” in the most existential sense of the word. Dostoevsky created one of the most intriguing archetypes in literature and philosophy: the fool, whose purity is a threat to a world shaped by cynicism and hypocrisy.
In this video, I delve into The Fool and the tragic story of Prince Mikhain, a good man in a corrupt society where goodness is not admired, but exploited and destroyed. After all, who is the real fool? Those who believe in honesty and compassion, or those who learn to manipulate and deceive in order to survive?
Nietzsche, Cioran and Baudelaire also entered this discussion, pointing out how society treats those who refuse to play the game of appearances. The truth is that we live in a world where cynicism is mistaken for wisdom and coldness for maturity. Can purity survive in an environment that only values cunning?
If this reflection has made you think, I want to know what you think: can authentic goodness really exist without being crushed by the world? Or are we all doomed to give in to the game of dissimulation? Comment below, and if you liked the analysis, leave a like to support the channel. If you want to continue reflecting with me on big ideas and existential questions, subscribe so you don't miss the next videos. See you next time!
