A clear blue sky doesn’t mean a safe flight.
This Boeing 737 MAX departs Mariscal Sucre International (SEQM) from Runway 36, climbing out of a tight Andean valley at over 9,000 feet, where thin air robs the engines of thrust and terrain waits immediately beyond the departure end. There’s no lazy climb here — the aircraft must perform now, boxed in by mountains that punish hesitation.
The arrival into Mariscal Lamar International (SECU) is deceptively calm. Sunlight illuminates the city of Cuenca, a dense urban sprawl wrapped tightly around the airport. The runway sits inside a bowl of terrain, leaving no room to “fix it later.”
The ILS Z Runway 24 funnels the aircraft down a narrow corridor, over rooftops and roads. The margins are thin. Performance-critical.
No storms.
No excuses.
Just precision flying in one of South America’s most unforgiving jet environments.
This is not about drama — it’s about discipline.
And this landing decides everything.
