Despite a challenging operating environment marked by energy constraints and the effects of drought, the sector recorded a significant milestone, with its contribution to GDP rising to 9.3 percent, the highest level since the 1990s. The discussion underscored the resilience of local manufacturers and the opportunities emerging from Zambia’s regional positioning among eight neighbouring countries.

The conversation also highlighted the role of the Public Private Dialogue Forum in strengthening collaboration between government and industry, enabling more honest engagement, deeper cross-sector networking, and alignment with national targets under the 8th National Development Plan.
