Reflecting upon voice in rhetoric and civic life creates a clear definition upon which we can realize our voices and transform our lives and our communities. Through modeling voice and combing theory science and practice, this interactive talk illuminated the importance and use of voice, stated a definition of voice, uncovered how to find voice, and highlighted influences that decrease and increase voice.
Leila Brammer, PhD, is a professor of Communication Studies at Gustavus Adolphus College. Deliberation, civility, social movements, and rhetoric/argument are among her research interests. She spearheaded the development of Public Discourse, a nationally recognized model for teaching deliberative discourse and citizenship.
