Session 2- Board Games: The Heritage of our Culture
About the Speakers:
Ms. Dnyaneshwari Kamath
Working as a freelancing architect since 1994, Ms. Kamath has dealt with several architectural and interior projects. Her professional work introduced and familiarised her with different structural forms and designs, pressing her towards studying archaeology. At the University of Mumbai’s Centre for Extra Mural Studies, she studied Archaeology and completed courses on Forts and Fortifications, and Ancient Indian Arts, Science and Culture. She has attended several conferences on archaeology and allied studies, co- authored and presented papers on ancient games, and delivered a lecture on ‘My Archaeological explorations in the Nilgiris’. She used to co-author a fortnightly column on ancient games in the Marathi weekly Lokaprabha. Presently as an associate of the India Study Centre Trust (INSTUCEN), she works on a project to study the effects of playing board games on school children, in association with The Shikshan Mandal Goregaon.

Ms. Aparna Joshi
Aparna Joshi has been a journalist and content creator for the last 30 years. She has written for publications including The Guardian, UK, The Times of India and the Indian Express. Aparna currently heads a content studio which specialises in innovative content across all Indian languages for various publishers and brands. Aparna has been studying archaeology for the last 10 years and along with the core team at INSTUCEN Trust and has been involved in researching and documenting ancient board games in India.
