𝗣𝗜𝗘𝗥 𝗣𝗟𝗨𝗡𝗚𝗘: Police Officers Arrest Man for Jumping Off Santa Monica Pier

Описание: SANTA MONICA, Calif. — September 18, 2025 — A man was taken into custody Thursday evening after leaping from the Santa Monica Pier and plunging into the Pacific Ocean, prompting a rapid multi-agency response.

Witnesses said the man, wearing only swim trunks, jumped into the water from the upper deck of the pier. Two Santa Monica Harbor Patrol officers quickly entered the ocean to ensure his safety and guided him back to the pier. Santa Monica Police officers met the group at the deck, detained the man for questioning, and placed him under arrest without further incident.

City signage posted along the pier warns visitors that diving or jumping is illegal. Santa Monica Municipal Code 10.08.620 prohibits leaping from the municipal pier except in emergencies involving the preservation of life. Violations of the ordinance are classified as a misdemeanor.

Police log later confirmed the man was formally charged under SMMC 10.08.620 for jumping into the water from the pier, a misdemeanor offense. Authorities have not released his name.
