Dollywood Express #70: Christmas Time in the Smokies

Описание: For our last stop of 2019, we visited the theme park known as Dollywood. Dollywood has a little a train ride called the Dollywood Express, the Dollywood Express operates two steam locomotives but we were only able to see one operate. The one that was operating was locomotive number 70.

70 is a 2-8-2 Class 12-28 1/4 E Mikado built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1938. 70 originally worked at the White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad in Skagway, Alaska (the line still exists today for tourist trains). Due to the railroad being replaced by diesels it was retired by 1963. 70 and other WP&YR engines were rusting on a siding until in 1977, 70 and her sister 71 were sold to the Silver Dollar City (now known as Dollywood). 70 was given the nickname “Cinderella” and she sat on display until she was restored in 1987, and she’s been pulling visitors around the park since.

If haven’t done so already please visit Dollywood and while you visit there please make sure to visit the Dollywood Express as well. Christmas was a great time to visit there, we wasn’t disappointed and you shouldn’t be either. Note: the events that were filmed was NOT in chronological order, we did it in order of how the route is. We hope y’all enjoy.
